Family fun on the beach at sunset in Łeba

An evening on the beach doesn’t have to mean the fun is over

A sunset over the Baltic Sea is one of the most beautiful moments of a holiday. For adults, it can be a time to relax and admire the views, but for children it doesn’t necessarily mean the end of the fun. In the evening, the beach in Łeba becomes quieter, the temperature is more pleasant, and the whole family can make the most of the last few hours of the day to have fun together.

Building a castle in the light of the setting sun

A sandcastle is a holiday classic that takes on a whole new atmosphere in the evening. Parents can join in with their children and together build a real seaside fortress complete with towers, a moat and channels leading out to the sea.

You could also organise a family competition – children versus parents, or everyone building their own creation. Of course, you all choose the winner together.

The search for the most beautiful shells

An evening stroll along the Baltic coast can be turned into a little treasure hunt. The children’s task could be to find the prettiest shell, the most unusual stone, or something shaped like a heart, an animal or some other interesting object.

This means that a simple walk along the beach in Łeba quickly turns into a family adventure.

Family races on the sand

Once the worst of the heat has passed, you can get a bit more active. Short races to a designated spot, slaloming across the sand or jumping over drawn lines are all games that require no equipment at all.

The most important thing is that parents take part too. For the children, the chance to beat Mum or Dad in a race could be one of the highlights of the whole evening.

Drawing huge pictures in the sand

Wet sand on the seashore can become a huge canvas. You can use a stick to draw hearts, ships, animals, words or huge pictures created together by the whole family.

You could also write „Łeba” and the date of your holiday, and take a family photo with that sign. Years later, it’ll be a lovely memento of your trip to the seaside together.

A game of catching waves

One of the simplest games often brings children the most joy. Stand at the water’s edge and run away from the approaching waves. You can see who can get closest and manage to run away before the water gets their feet wet.

Of course, all water-based activities should take place under the constant supervision of adults and with due regard to the current conditions at sea.

A family photo taken during the golden hour

The evening light by the Baltic Sea is perfect for photography. Instead of staged photos, it’s worth trying to capture natural moments – children running along the beach, building a sandcastle together, or the whole family strolling along the seashore.

Photos like these often make for a much better keepsake than traditional posed photographs.

Sit down together and watch the sunset

After playing, it’s worth taking a moment to rest. Spread out a blanket, sit together on the sand and watch as the sun slowly disappears behind the horizon. You can talk about what the children enjoyed most that day and decide together what you’ll do tomorrow.

It’s a simple way to create a family holiday tradition.

The best family memories of Łeba happen spontaneously

Children don’t always remember the biggest and most expensive attractions best. Often, years later, it is the times spent running along the beach together, building a huge sandcastle, hunting for shells or an evening when the whole family stayed by the sea until sunset that they recall most vividly.

So, whilst on a family holiday in Łeba, it’s worth putting your daily plans aside every now and then and staying on the beach a little longer. The sand, the Baltic Sea, the setting sun and time spent together are all you need to create wonderful holiday memories.
